De traagheid, techniciteit en onvoorspelbaarheid van het ambachtelijke keramiekproces zijn het vertrekpunt van mijn werk. Door te experimenteren met vormen, texturen en glazuren onderzoek ik de grens tussen funcioneel en niet-functioneel. Verwondering is hier een sleutelbegrip. Hoewel mijn werken geen figuratieve elementen bevatten, vergelijk ik ze vaak met mensen. Door ze in relatie met elkaar te plaatsen, ontstaat een nieuw spanningsveld dat heel subtiel verwijst naar menselijke connecties. Relaties – langdurig of kortstondig – kunnen een diepgaande betekenis hebben. Via mijn keramiek reflecteer ik vaak op deze waardevolle interacties en wil ik laten zien hoe verbinding van essentieel belang is.

De vrijheid die ik heb als keramist vormt een perfecte aanvulling op mijn opdrachtgerichte werk als grafisch vormgever. Sinds de start van mijn loopbaan in 1999 stel ik mijn creativiteit en vakmanschap volledig ten dienste van de klant. Vooral uitgeverijen ondersteun ik met veel plezier bij het realiseren van boeken, een werkveld dat me nog steeds inspireert. Voor mij is dit de ideale balans tussen dienstbaarheid en persoonlijke expressie.

The slowness, technicality, and unpredictability of the artisanal ceramic process are the starting point of my work. By experimenting with shapes, textures and glazes, I explore the boundary between functional and non-functional. Wonder is a key concept here. Although my pieces do not contain figurative elements, I often compare them to people. By placing them in relation to one another, a new dynamic emerges. One that subtly references human connections. Relationships, whether long lasting or short term, can carry deep meaning. Through my ceramics, I often reflect on these valuable interactions and aim to show how essential connection truly is.

The freedom I experience as a ceramicist is the perfect complement to my commissioned work as a graphic designer. Since the start of my career in 1999, I dedicate my creativity and craftsmanship entirely to the client. I particularly enjoy supporting publishers in the creation of books, a field that continues to inspire me. For me, it is the ideal balance between service and personal expression.
